Las 100 mejores películas (norteamericanas) de todos los tiempos, se ha actualizado, como sucede cada año de la mano de American Film Institute (AFI)

La American Film Institute (AFI) ha hecho pública su lista anual de las 100 mejores películas (norteamericanas) de todos los tiempos.
Como sigue siendo habitual encabeza la lista, Ciudadano Kane (1941), la obra maestra de Orson Welles, que parece inamovible para el rankings.

La lista incluye sólo cuatro títulos filmados en la última década y una realizada después del 2000, El Señor de los Anillos: La Comunidad del Anillo.
Los actores protagonistas con más películas son ROBERT DE NIRO y JAMES STEWART, con un total de cinco.

Destacar a JAMES DEAN, con dos películas entre las 100 mejores, habiendo hecho tan sólo tres.
La película más antigua: El nacimiento de una nación (1915)

Esta lista está compuesta únicamente por películas americanas o con una importante participación americana en su producción, por lo que está muy lejos de ser significativa, pero representa una parte muy importante del cine a nivel mundial.

Opinión de un lector: siguen sin aparecer...
Fue especialmente amargo ver que la lista original de hace 10 años incluía la primera “Frankenstein” y no su bizarra, brillante secuela, el verdadero clásico y una película con una sensibilidad muy adelantada a su tiempo. Diez años después enmendaron un error, pero este sigue pendiente. “Planet of the apes“. Por siempre opacada por “2001", estrenada el mismo año. Sin embargo, sigue siendo una de las mejores películas de ciencia ficción de todos los tiempos.The english patient.

Muy poco hip de mi parte, pero es una clase de edición, fotografía, literatura, historia. Y su elegancia es impagable. Repito, si valían películas de 2001: “Mulholland Dr.“, “A.I.” o “In the bedroom” son mejores que muchas de las obras que componen la lista. “Short cuts“. Ojalá aparezca antes que “Magnolia”. “The age of innocence“. Estoy entre la minoría que la considera de las mejores obras de su director. “Oliver!“. Dicen que es británica, pero si “Lawrence of Arabia” y “A clockwork orange” valen, esta también.
